To support and promote accountability towards Child development through committed corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) in association with Stonehill International School and ChildFund India recently held a unique conference to encourage dialogue around the cause.

With several enthusiastic participants attending the session and interacting with the speakers, the session raised many pertinent questions around the issue of child development within the context of CSR .

Under the broad canvas of “Child Development and Safety” some of the issues and voices that were present included Mr. Panish Hangal, Business Partner of Arka Advisory who talked about the topical issue of keeping children secure in Cyber Space. There was also a great deal of discussion around Child Protection Measure in Schools  where Mr. Simon McCloskey, Deputy Head of School and Primary Principal at Stonehill International School shared his insight.

The event also saw representation from all the key pillars of reform in civil society i.e. Ms. Neelam Makhijani, CEO of Child Fund who represented the not for profit sector’s point of view and Dr. P.C.Jaffer,Commissioner for Public Instruction who shared with the gathering his immense knowledge and information in the area of  education development by the Government of Karnataka.

As conversations and information around child development grow, the hope is that CSR wings will engage more deeply with the government and not for profit space to bring lasting change.
